Our mission statement is 'Building foundations for life, through excellence in action.'
At Great Wood Farm Early Years Centre we value the children as unique individuals, and believe in providing the best care and awe and wonder environments for them to learn and develop to their maximum potential. We aspire to the Reggio Emilia approach, creating beautiful environments, a worldwide highly regarded style of practice.
We are passionate about children learning outside and we aim to be outside for as much time as we can. We believe all areas of learning can be developed during outdoor play using open ended and natural resources where possible, this captivates and stimulates the children, maximising the learning potential.
We encourage the children to think creatively and imaginatively; we do this by having dynamic and flexible systems that supports personalised learning. We support learning through play, planning in the moment, and allow children to take calculated risks. The Forest School ethos is embedded through the whole nursery; this ensures children are confident, competent, creative, independent learners with excellent self esteem.
We employ a whole setting approach to care and learning that values a healthy lifestyle to build foundations for future success.
We understand the importance of liaising closely with parents, other professionals and linking with our community, and diversity is respected. We constantly strive for excellence, as demonstrated in our Ofsted report. We aim to share our passion for nature and expertise by inviting schools and other professionals to learn in our fantastic setting.
